Calculator
How strong is each serving?
Split an infusion across a batch, or work backwards from the dose you want. Both directions carry the full range rather than a midpoint.
Questions people ask
- How many milligrams should one edible be?
- That depends entirely on the person, and this site will not tell you a number to aim for. What is useful is the scale: 1 to 2.5 mg is a microdose, 2.5 to 5 mg is low, 5 to 10 mg is a common standard serving, and anything past 25 mg is a large amount for most people. Someone with no tolerance should start at the bottom of that scale and wait a full two hours before deciding it did not work.
- Why does the answer change if I use the range instead of one number?
- Because the uncertainty is real and it compounds. If your infusion might be 39 or might be 58 mg per tablespoon, then a batch of 24 cookies might be 6.5 or might be 9.7 mg each. Those are different evenings. Collapsing that to a single midpoint hides the thing you most need to know, so the calculator carries both ends all the way through.
- Why does target mode ask for more infusion than I expected?
- It sizes against the weaker end of your range on purpose. If the batch comes out at the stronger end you get a pleasant surprise; if it were sized against the stronger end and came out weak, you would have wasted the flower. Planning for the weaker outcome is the version of this mistake you can recover from.
- My edibles hit unevenly. Why?
- Almost always distribution rather than dosing. Cannabinoids ride in fat, and if that fat is not thoroughly worked through the batter, some pieces carry far more than others. Mix longer than feels necessary, and be wary of recipes where the infused fat goes in last or is folded rather than beaten.
